Farola is El Born’s go-to cocktail bar in Barcelona. A craft cocktail bar where Mediterranean ingredients, a skilled team and the neighbourhood’s energy combine into the perfect excuse to stretch the afternoon and stay as long as the night allows.

Our story

Farola was born in 2018, inspired by the culture of European cafés — historically social hubs where people from different backgrounds gathered to connect, discuss, and enjoy. The name Farola, meaning ‘streetlight’ in Spanish, reflects this idea of a place that brings people together.

In the late 19th century, with the arrival of electricity, these cafés evolved beyond daytime venues and became the foundation of modern nightlife.

Farola celebrates this evolution. By day, our terrace brings people together around the aperitivo. By night, music, DJs, and energy transform the space into a vibrant experience where everyone becomes part of the atmosphere.

NIGHT AT FAROLA

Music & DJ sets

At Farola, music isn’t background noise, it’s part of the plan. Every week we select the best DJs on Barcelona’s circuit to deliver a thoughtful programming, no unnecessary hype, just sound. Groove, Nu Disco and Disco are the backbone of our nights: music that makes you want to stay.

DJ sets kick off Thursday to Saturday from 22:30. Come early, stay late.

Privatize for events and large groups

Farola is far more than a cocktail bar: it’s a versatile space in the heart of El Born, built for those who want something different. Spacious, light-filled and full of character, our venue adapts for private celebrations, brand presentations, corporate events, birthdays and any occasion that deserves the right setting.

We work with groups and coordinate every detail: from a bespoke cocktail menu to the musical selection. If you can imagine it, we can organise it.

Book your table and secure the best spot of the afternoon. We always welcome walk-ins where capacity allows, but for groups of more than 4 or DJ nights we recommend booking ahead.

THE PEOPLE BEHIND THE BAR

Our team

Behind every cocktail there’s someone who has spent years learning their craft. Our team is the reason Farola works: bartenders with knowledge, skill and a genuine desire to make every visit better than the last.

Marco Tagliabue

Manager

Italian by origin and a natural team leader. He shares his experience with everyone, connects easily with guests and always brings energy and good humour. His favourites: shots and a good White Sand cocktail.

Alejandro Bello

Lab Manager

Colombian by birth and Italian by adoption. He is the creative mind of the team, responsible for the preparations and for making sure everything runs with precision and organisation. He loves a good classic piadina.

Luca Pinciroli

General Manager

The organisational mind behind the project. He manages relationships, coordinates operations and keeps everything under control. Known as the President of the Republic of Farola, he enjoys a good hummus paired with an excellent Negroni.

Giacomo Ravaglia

Bartender

Italian and the tireless soul of the bar. He always brings joy, good humour and endless energy; he works at an impressive speed and seems to be everywhere at once. There are always some almonds to snack on and a good Martini to go with them.

Matilde Giumelli

Floor Manager

Italian by origin and Catalan by adoption. Known as the Supreme Boss, she is the definition of organisation, efficiency and calm: when she is on shift, you know everything will run perfectly. She spreads her joy and good humour throughout the whole team. Her favourite combination: a good Amaretto Sour with a delicious vegetarian piadina.

Ibrar Cheema

Cook

Head Chef and a fundamental part of Farola since the day we opened. Master of our hummus and guardian of its secret recipe, he keeps the kitchen running with impressive organisation and speed. Anyone who works with him knows his rules must be followed to the letter. Respected and loved by the whole team, Ibrar is synonymous with consistency and excellence.
